AudioTech | House of Marley

[Interview provided by Karen Korponai of House of Marley]
What is the House of Marley? It’s a partnership with the Marley family and basically we’re trying to take Bob Marley’s vision and the message he spread in his music, translate it into products and create a movement. We’ve created this amazing audio line to start with and we have three collections in it–Jammin, Freedom and Destiny.
What was the design inspiration? All the materials we’ve used strive to be earth-friendly organic, less is more. All of the wood is FSC certified and all the plastics are recycled. The aluminum, canvas, bags, are all recycled. They’re fun and unique products! I think with our three collections, we can appeal to a lot of consumers. From the bags that share some resemblance to skateboard decks to our higher end stereos for the young professionals.
Any hemp in the future? Yeah, we’re exploring the use of hemp and organic cotton.
Why Bob? Marley is a lifestyle–it’s a vibe. Especially with the younger generations, he has so much recognition. The messages in his music are more relevant today and it resonates with a younger generation. I can see them wearing the headphones or taking the boom-box to the park or the beach, wherever!
